Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky has broken his silence after a disastrous Champions League debut that saw him substituted just 17 minutes into Spurs’ 5-2 loss to Atletico Madrid.
The 22-year-old, handed a surprise start over Guglielmo Vicario, was hauled off by manager Igor Tudor after two early errors left Tottenham trailing 3-0.
Kinsky described the experience on Instagram as a shift “from dream to nightmare,” while thanking fans for their support.
Manager Igor Tudor defended the brutal tactical move as “necessary to preserve the guy and the team,” though he notably failed to acknowledge the keeper as he left the pitch.
Former England goalkeeper David James suggested the move was more about the manager’s own survival.
“Tudor was thinking about his future,” James told BBC Radio 5 Live. “But as much as it hurt, staying on and losing 7-0 would have been a career-wrecker for Kinsky.”
With Spurs facing a “doomsday scenario” ahead of the second leg, the pressure on Tudor continues to mount following what critics have labeled a “bizarre” and “cruel” substitution.
