Makerere University Business School (MUBS) suffered a 2-1 defeat to Lira University, ending their chances of progressing from the group stage.
Kihumuro Huzaifah put Lira ahead in the 55th minute before Katete Brian equalized six minutes later.
Lira captain Okeng Emmanuel secured the win with a free-kick in the 90+2 minute, marking the team’s first victory of the season.
Earlier, St. Lawrence University beat Gulu University 1-0 in Gulu City through Mukiibi Sharafah’s 83rd-minute goal, confirming their qualification unbeaten.
Lira coach Dan Ogwal Engwedo credited the win to thorough preparation and fitness, but noted the team’s limited home fixtures affected their performance this season.
MUBS coach Dudu Bosco highlighted a red card in the 85th minute as a turning point and said the team will now focus on the East African University Games.
Okeng Emmanuel described the victory as a statement of Lira University’s potential and requested more competitive opportunities for the team.
