Prince Wasajja Backs Wankulukuku as Enterprise Cup Host Venue

Prince David Kintu Wasajja has backed the choice of Mutesa II Stadium as host venue for Uganda’s quarterfinal matches in the 2026 Enterprise Cup, urging supporters to turn up and experience the stadium when the competition begins later this month.

The venue in Wankulukuku will stage two of the opening round fixtures on March 21 as Ugandan clubs return to the regional competition after more than two decades.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Wasajja praised the stadium’s facilities and encouraged rugby supporters to attend the matches.

“We want to assure people that Wankulukuku grounds are very big and have enough parking space. People should come and watch the rugby matches and see the beautiful of the pitch,” he said.

He added that the venue’s quality and reputation made it a fitting choice for the revived tournament.

“Wankulukuku is a very special ground and that’s why the rugby union choose it and also CAF choose it to be a training ground,” Wasajja said.

Wasajja plays an active role in the administration and growth of the sport in Uganda. He serves as a trustee of the Uganda Rugby Union and acts as a key link between the rugby fraternity and the Buganda Kingdom led by Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

His involvement has also helped bring rugby events into the Kingdom’s sporting calendar and supported efforts to expand venues for the sport beyond its traditional bases in Kampala.

Uganda will have four clubs competing in the revived tournament, with Stanbic Black Pirates facing KCB Rugby and Platinum Credit Heathens taking on Kabras Sugar Rugby Club in the quarterfinal fixtures scheduled to be played in Kampala.

The remaining ties will be staged in Kenya, where Toyota Buffaloes face Menengai Oilers and KCB KOBs meet Nondescripts RFC.

Winners from the quarterfinal round will progress to the semi finals on April 11 before the final scheduled for May 30.
