The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has appointed a Tournament Organising Committee to oversee the rollout of the new FUFA Academies League, a competition designed to strengthen youth football development in the country.
Barente Ronald will serve as chairman of the committee, with Kiwanuka Roberts appointed as vice chairman. Other members include Kigongo Farouk, Rodrick Muhumuza, and former Uganda Cranes players Ronald Lwanga, Benjamin Ochan and Yasser Mugerwa.
The committee will oversee the pilot edition of the FUFA Academies League, which will initially cover the Kampala and Buganda regions.
The competition is scheduled to kick off on March 22, 2026 as part of efforts to improve youth football structures and create a stronger pathway for young talent.
FUFA will officially launch the academies league on March 16 at FUFA Stadium Kadiba, where details of the pilot project and its structure are expected to be unveiled.
The initiative is aimed at building a stronger talent pipeline for Ugandan football by giving academy players structured competition at an early stage of their development.
