Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has hailed interim head coach Michael Carrick for doing an “excellent job” following a dramatic turnaround in the club’s form.
Since replacing Ruben Amorim in January, Carrick has guided United to six wins in eight matches.
The Red Devils have collected 19 points from a possible 24, the highest tally in the Premier League over that period, climbing to third in the table.
Despite the resurgence, Ratcliffe refused to confirm if the 44-year-old would be appointed permanently. When asked by Sky Sports News about giving Carrick the long-term role, Ratcliffe replied: “No, not going there.”
United are currently on track for Champions League qualification with nine games remaining.
While Ratcliffe acknowledged the importance of a top-four finish, he remained cautious: “There are still seven or eight games to go, so still a while yet.”
Having sacked both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim in the last 14 months, the United board is under pressure to ensure their next permanent appointment provides long-term stability.
