George Russell secured a commanding victory in the Chinese Grand Prix sprint race after an intense, early-lap duel with Lewis Hamilton.
The Mercedes driver and the Ferrari-bound seven-time champion swapped the lead five times in the first five laps before Russell pulled away to a comfortable win.
The race was defined by wheel-to-wheel scrap and a mid-race safety car triggered by Nico Hulkenberg’s retirement.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton took second and third respectively after a fierce battle for the runner-up spot.
Lando Norris briefly jumped Hamilton at the restart, but the veteran reclaimed the position around the outside of Turn One a lap later.
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli finished fifth despite a 10-second penalty for an opening-lap collision and a slow start.
After a poor start dropped him to 15th, Max Verstappen fought back to 9th, narrowly missing out on the final point.
