The Tusker Lite Neon Night Run has returned to Uganda’s running calendar after a seven year absence, with organisers confirming the first race will take place on April 10, 2026.
The popular night running event was relaunched on Friday at the Uganda Breweries Limited head plant in Luzira, where runners from several clubs gathered to celebrate its comeback.
Participants marked the occasion with a five kilometre road run around Luzira before the official launch, signalling the revival of one of Uganda’s most lively social running experiences.
The upcoming race will feature both 5KM and 10KM categories and will start and finish at the 1st Circuit Lounge. Organisers say the night event will blend fitness with music and entertainment, creating a social running atmosphere that has defined the series since its early editions.
Tusker Lite Brand Manager Sandra Againe welcomed the return of the event after its last staging in 2018.
“We last held the Tusker Lite Neon Runs in 2018 and we are excited to bring them back. These are vibrant night runs that blend music, movement and shared energy, just like the Tusker Lite brand. We are also happy to see that the running culture in Uganda continues to grow.”
Route designer Julius Nkurunija assured runners that safety had been prioritised in designing both race courses.
“The routes for both races have been well designed. There will be proper lighting, security personnel and route stewards along the way to ensure runners enjoy a safe and organized experience.”
The Neon Night Runs are known for mixing endurance with a fun team atmosphere, and organisers plan to hold several editions across the year as build up events to the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon scheduled for August 2026 in Kasese.
