St Noa Girls handed defending champions Kampala Queens WFC their third defeat of the season with a 1-0 victory during Matchday 15 of the FUFA Women Super League at MTN Omondi Stadium on Saturday.
St Noa controlled large spells of the contest, particularly in midfield where Patricia Nayiga and Brenda Nassaka dictated the tempo and disrupted Kampala Queens’ buildup play. Their dominance in possession, however, produced few clear chances in the first half as Kampala Queens remained compact defensively to keep the match goalless at the break.
The hosts returned from halftime with greater urgency, pushing higher up the pitch in search of an opener. Despite the improved approach, their attacking play lacked precision in the final third and St Noa’s defence repeatedly recovered shape to deny clear opportunities.
St Noa began to threaten more frequently as the game progressed, with Marion Serenge and Dorcus Lwalisa stretching the Kampala Queens back line with intelligent movement.
The decisive moment arrived in the 75th minute when Marion Serenge struck from distance after finding space outside the penalty area, firing past the goalkeeper to secure all three points. The goal was Serenge’s third in four appearances in the second round.
“I feel happy to contribute today. It was a tough game, but it’s great to go back with three points against the defending champions,” Serenge said after the match.
The defeat represents a setback for Kampala Queens as the title race enters a crucial stage of the campaign.
Elsewhere, Rines SS WFC and Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium. Gloria Namugerwa gave Uganda Martyrs the lead in the 15th minute before Kayesu Yusta equalised in the 56th minute, a performance that earned her the Player of the Match award.
In Soroti, Olila H/S WFC and Asubo Ladies FC remained without wins this season after playing out a goalless draw.
