Lira City Queens continued their impressive run in the ongoing Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women’s Elite League, edging past Pabbo Women Football Club with a narrow 1-0 win.
The tense encounter, played at Gulu High School playground, featured the only two teams representing the Northern region in the competition.
Building on momentum from their strong debut—a commanding 3-0 victory over Highway Ladies—the Queens entered the match determined to extend their winning streak and strengthen their position in the league standings.
Meanwhile, Pabbo Women FC, fresh from a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Jinja Women FC, were eager to secure their first win of the season.
The game burst into action early, with Lira City Queens taking the lead in the 7th minute after an unfortunate own goal from Pabbo Women FC. That strike proved decisive, as neither side managed to alter the scoreline before halftime.
The second half saw both teams push forward with renewed determination, but resilient defending on both ends kept the scoreboard unchanged. Despite late pressure, Pabbo Women FC couldn’t find an equalizer, sealing a well-earned victory for the Queens.
Looking ahead, Lira City Queens will host Jinja United Women Football Club on March 21, 2026, while Pabbo Women FC travel to Soroti City to face Ateker Women FC on March 22, 2026.
