FIFA has fined Nigeria and DR Congo after disciplinary breaches in their 2026 World Cup play-off last November.
Nigeria’s federation was penalised 1,000 Swiss francs for failing to control crowd trouble, while DR Congo’s FA received a 5,000 Swiss franc fine after fans used laser pointers.
The match in Rabat ended 1-1 before DR Congo won 4-3 on penalties, ending Nigeria’s hopes of a first World Cup since 2018.
Nigeria has since lodged a protest over the eligibility of several Congolese players, including Premier League duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Axel Tuanzebe.
Despite the complaint, Fifa has listed DR Congo in the upcoming intercontinental play-offs, where they face New Caledonia or Jamaica on 31 March.
The Leopards, last at the World Cup in 1974, are chasing history as Africa bids to send up to 10 teams to the expanded finals in North America.
