KCCA host Onduparaka in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, with kick-off set for 7:00 PM EAT.
KCCA enter the tie as favourites, driven by top-flight pedigree and a strong home record, and arrive in form after winning their last six matches across all competitions.
Onduparaka, competing in the FUFA Big League, approach the fixture as underdogs but carry a reputation for upsetting higher-ranked opponents.
The two sides last produced a dramatic 2-2 draw in May 2023, and with knockout rules applying, any stalemate after 90 minutes will go straight to penalties. Onduparaka have already shown their nerve in shootouts this season, eliminating Football Classroom 5-4 on penalties in the previous round.
Forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe is KCCA’s key attacking threat, having scored seven goals in his last eight matches. Captain Fillbert Obenchan, who netted the winner against Mbarara City in the round of 32, is expected to marshal the defence. For Onduparaka, Jimmy Pirio and Jonathan Mungufeni will lead the search for goals.
KCCA’s route to this stage included wins over St George Masindi and Mbarara City, while Onduparaka defeated Kabale City before advancing past Football Classroom on penalties. The visitors have already endured long travel this campaign, including a 720 km trip to Kabale, underlining their resilience away from home.
Historically, KCCA hold a clear advantage in this fixture, winning nine of the last 13 meetings, with Onduparaka claiming one victory and three matches ending in draws. KCCA have scored 37 goals in those encounters compared to Onduparaka’s eight.
KCCA co-head coach Jackson Magera has warned his players against complacency ahead of the tie. He said: “In a knockout competition, there are no second chances. We have been working on the group’s focus because one lapse can end our journey. The hunger in the squad is deep, and the lads know that if we are to progress in this competition, we must be clinical and disciplined.”
KCCA will be without several players. James Mubezi is sidelined after surgery on a fractured hand, while captain Charles Lukwago is on compassionate leave. Derrick Nsibambi, Bright Anukani, and Alpha Thierry Ssali are also ruled out through injury. The rest of the squad is available for selection.
