Uganda Athletics has confirmed the second National Trial will take place on March 29, 2026 at Mandela National Stadium, following a strong season-opening event held on March 14.
The trials form a central part of the federation’s athlete assessment process, offering competitors another opportunity to sharpen form and push for national selection ahead of a demanding international calendar. The first trial set an early benchmark, and organisers expect an even stronger turnout as athletes continue their build-up.
The March 29 program will feature a full slate of track events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 5000m. These races are expected to draw intense competition as sprinters and distance runners target faster times and early-season consistency.
Field events will include Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, and Triple Jump, though these disciplines will be contested by men only at this stage of the trials.
Uganda Athletics views the National Trials as a key evaluation platform, with performances used to gauge readiness and identify athletes capable of meeting qualification standards.
With momentum building from the opening trial, the second meet is expected to provide another clear indication of form as athletes continue preparations for the global season.
