The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) used its Annual General Meeting on March 14 to outline its competition schedule and development priorities for 2026, with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar at the center of its plans.
Uganda will send 55 athletes to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled for July 23 to August 2, competing in athletics, boxing, swimming, judo, track cycling, netball, 3×3 basketball, para powerlifting, weightlifting, para athletics, and para swimming.
The delegation will include 33 female athletes and 20 male athletes.
The UOC also confirmed participation in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games from October 31 to November 13.
Preparations will continue across athletics, badminton, basketball 3×3, rowing beach sprints, boxing, cycling, and swimming, with final entries to be guided by the Chef de Mission meeting in April.
Beyond competitions, the UOC set priorities around athlete support and federation compliance.
The committee will continue funding athletes through scholarships and grants, while expanding mental health programmes and youth-focused initiatives such as Game Connect and G.I.R.L.S against gender-based violence.
Governance and regulatory alignment were also flagged as key areas for 2026, with federations expected to meet requirements under the 2023 Sports Act and existing statutory instruments.
The meeting also confirmed a new nutrition partnership with Tooke, which the UOC wants federations to integrate into athlete preparation programmes ahead of the 2026 competitions.
