Galatasaray’s Noa Lang will undergo surgery in Liverpool after suffering a serious cut to his right thumb during Wednesday’s 4-0 Champions League defeat at Anfield.
The Dutch midfielder collided with advertising hoardings in the 76th minute and was stretchered off after receiving oxygen. Galatasaray confirmed surgery will take place with their medical team present.
Teammate Victor Osimhen also sustained a fractured forearm following an early clash with Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté. A decision on surgery is pending.
Coach Okan Buruk called Lang’s injury “bad” and criticized referee Pawel Raczkowski over his handling of Osimhen’s incident.
Liverpool advanced 4-1 on aggregate and will face Paris St-Germain in the quarter-finals.
