The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has confirmed the official categorisation of football academies following a nationwide inspection exercise, concluding a registration process that closed on February 13, 2026.

The governing body placed academies into Category Two, Category Three, Schools of Football, Provisional Certificate, and Under Review after an extended registration period allowed more applicants to meet requirements. An independent expert panel assessed infrastructure, technical capacity, governance, and safeguarding standards before assigning the final grades.

Several of the country’s leading academies were approved under Category Two, which reflects elite standards. These include El Cambio Academy, Vipers SC Academy, and St. Mary’s Kitende Sports Academy in Buganda.

In Kampala, KCCA FC Soccer Academy, Proline Soccer Academy, and Maroons FC Academy also secured top-tier status, alongside BUL FC Academy in Eastern Uganda and Paorinher Sports Academy.

Category Three features developing academies, with Kampala sides such as Edgars Youth Programme, Kensington Academy, and K.S Sparta 09 Academy included. Others recognised at this level are Watoto Sports Academy and Washington Soccer School in Buganda, plus Friends of Soccer Academy and Radiant Hope School Academy.

Under the Schools of Football category, FUFA highlighted institutions focused on grassroots development. These include Omega Soccer Academy, Mukono Galaticos Soccer Academy, and Jean Sseninde United Academy in Kampala.

Regional representation features Erima Soccer Academy, Eleven Brothers Sports Academy, Rwakahengo Sports Academy, and The Lion Sports Academy.

Some academies, including Kampala Junior Team, Prosper Soccer Academy, and Buddo Sports Academy, were issued provisional certificates pending full compliance.

Others such as URA FC Soccer Academy, Kitara FC Academy, and Mbarara City Academy remain under review.

FUFA stated that compliant academies will receive certification confirming adherence to quality and professional standards, and have been recommended for licensing by the National Council of Sports.

The next registration window will open on July 1, 2026.
