Namibia sealed a 2-1 T20 series victory over Uganda with a commanding 98-run win in the decisive third match in Windhoek on March 21.
Uganda were bowled out for 71 in 16.5 overs while chasing 170, collapsing after a brief solid start at 19 without loss. Max Heingo (4/9) led the damage with the ball, supported by Ruben Trumpelmann (2/7) and Brassell (2/34), as Namibia’s pace attack dismantled the middle order.
Earlier, Namibia posted 169/6 in their 20 overs, built around Louren Steenkamp’s 82 off 52 balls, which included eight fours and four sixes. Nicol Loftie-Eaton (30) and Jan Frylinck (20) provided support after an initially restrained start.
Uganda’s bowlers had moments of control, with Juma Miyaji returning 3/32 and Cosmas Kyewuta impressing with 2/21, but early extras and missed chances allowed Namibia to recover and finish strongly.
Captain Riazat Ali Shah said: “It’s a tough result, but an important learning experience. We had moments with the ball, but we didn’t take responsibility with the bat.”
Head coach Steve Tikolo added: “One of the top four has to take responsibility and bat deep. That’s something we must correct immediately. It is a clear indication that there’s work to be done for the whole unit and I am happy to get to it when we return to Uganda after this practice tour. I have some particular drills I will inculcate into the system for the batsmen to make them better.”
Uganda had levelled the series in the second match but failed to maintain that momentum in the decider, with batting once again proving the difference.
Attention now shifts to the 50-over format, with the first match scheduled for March 23 in Windhoek as Uganda look to regroup ahead of upcoming qualification campaigns for the 2027 ODI World Cup and the 2028 T20 World Cup.
