Oscar Ntambi Reflects on ‘Toughest Rally’ After ARC2 Win in Kenya

The 2026 National Rally Championship kicks off this weekend in Mbale, with drivers from across the country eager to make a strong start in their pursuit of this year’s crown.

The new season promises fierce competition as crews line up to challenge reigning champion Ronald Ssebuguzi, who will be looking to defend the title he secured last year.

The championship was officially launched at KCB offices in Kampala, where the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda announced a sponsorship package worth 560 million shillings from KCB Bank Uganda to support the 2026 season. The deal also grants KCB naming rights for the championship.

Speaking at the launch, FMU President Jimmy Akena welcomed the support, emphasizing its importance in developing the sport and ensuring a competitive season.

“This sponsorship is a big boost for the sport. It will help us organize a successful championship and give drivers a platform to compete at the highest level,” said Akena.

In addition, KCB committed 380 million shillings to support its team drivers, including Oscar Ntambi, Mike Mukula Jr., and former champion Nasser Mutebi.

The drivers expressed confidence ahead of the opening round in Mbale, each determined to make an early statement in the title race.

“We are ready for the season. Preparations have gone well, and I am focused on starting strong in Mbale,” said Ntambi.

“Every driver wants to win the championship, so the competition will be very tough from the first rally,” added Mukula Jr.

“With the support we have received, the target is to compete at the top and fight for the title this season,” noted Mutebi.

With anticipation building, rally fans will be eager to see who seizes the early advantage and sets the pace for the 2026 campaign.

As the championship flags off in Mbale this weekend, the battle for supremacy officially begins—and only time will tell who will emerge as the 2026 National Rally Champion.
