Excitement is building in Ntungamo as the STACON League prepares for its sixth edition, set to kick off on Saturday, March 28th.
In a symbolic moment ahead of the tournament, League President Dean Chavez Katwesigye has unveiled a brand-new trophy that nine teams will battle for in this year’s competition.
Founded six years ago to unite alumni of Standard College Ntungamo, the STACON League has grown far beyond its sporting roots.
What began as a simple initiative has evolved into a dynamic social and professional network. Alumni have leveraged the league to secure job opportunities, internships, business partnerships, and even lifelong relationships, including marriages.
“This league is not just about competition, but about bringing together alumni, creating opportunities, and strengthening bonds that go beyond the field,” said President Katwesigye during the unveiling ceremony.
Organizers promise that the sixth edition will be the most diverse yet, with new disciplines introduced alongside football. Netball and basketball will debut this year, expanding participation and raising the competitive stakes.
The inclusion of multiple sports reflects the league’s mission to foster inclusivity and broaden its appeal among alumni.
As the countdown continues, anticipation is high not only for the matches but also for the connections and celebrations that have become hallmarks of the STACON League.
