Fernando Alonso will skip Thursday’s media duties at the Japanese Grand Prix after the birth of his first child with partner Melissa Jimenez.
Aston Martin confirmed the two‑time champion is arriving late “for personal family reasons” but will be at Suzuka in time for Friday.
Reserve driver Jak Crawford will take his car in the rookie session, while Alonso, retiring from both races so far, faces a season already marred by Honda engine vibrations and reliability failures.
Aston Martin sit last in the standings, with Honda under pressure to deliver improvements at their home track.
The Japanese Grand Prix runs 27–29 March, with Sunday’s race at 06:00 BST.
