Uganda will look to close out their tour on a positive note when they face Namibia in the second and final 50-over match today in Windhoek, following a heavy defeat in the series opener.
The Cricket Cranes were beaten by 173 runs in the first match after Namibia posted 303/8 and then bowled Uganda out for 130 inside 31 overs. The result extended a difficult run on tour, coming after a 2-1 loss in the T20I series.
Despite a disciplined start with the ball in the opener, Uganda failed to make early breakthroughs and were later punished by Namibia’s middle order.
Gerhard Erasmus led the charge with 88, while Jan Frylinck added 44 as the hosts built a commanding total. Cosmas Kyewuta and Kenneth Waiswa were the pick of Uganda’s bowlers, but 27 extras proved costly.
Uganda’s batting struggled to respond. Early wickets left them chasing the game at 48/5 inside 10 overs, with Juma Miyaji (36) and Anas Mirza Baig (25) offering only brief resistance.
Uganda will now target a more complete performance in both departments as they attempt to level the two-match series and avoid another setback on tour.
