The race for leadership of the Pool Association of Uganda is officially underway, following the launch of the nomination process ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Robert Kayanja, a long-serving figure in Uganda’s pool fraternity, has declared his intention to contest for the presidency after picking up nomination forms earlier today.
He collected the forms from the association’s offices on Kagyokya Street in Kamwokya, Kampala. His early entry sets the stage for what is expected to be a competitive contest for the sport’s top administrative seat.
Speaking shortly after completing the process, Kayanja expressed confidence in his ability to lead and pledged to serve the interests of the game and its stakeholders.
“I am ready to serve the game,” he said, urging pool players, officials, and fans across the country to rally behind his bid.
Meanwhile, Paul Okware has also picked nomination forms to contest for the position of vice president, adding further momentum to the electoral process.
The association has outlined a clear roadmap for the elections: district-level polls will run from April 9 to April 20, followed by regional elections on April 26. The presidential race will then take place from May 3 to May 22, culminating in the final polls and General Assembly on May 23.
With nominations now open and more candidates expected to join, the contest for leadership of the Pool Association of Uganda is shaping up to be highly competitive, as stakeholders look ahead to a new chapter for the sport.
