Inter Miami will honour Lionel Messi by naming a stand after him at their new 26,700-seat Nu Stadium.
Messi, 38, joined the MLS side in 2023 and has since become their record scorer with 82 goals and top assist provider with 53, leading the club to the Leagues Cup, Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup.
The tribute is unusual for an active player. Inter Miami said it was “born from the present” and a recognition of “something unique.”
The stadium opens on 4 April against Austin FC. Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and Argentina’s 2022 World Cup captain, also had a stand named after him by Newell’s Old Boys in 2025.
