Morocco insists the Africa Cup of Nations controversy is settled, despite Senegal’s appeals to overturn CAF’s ruling.
The Atlas Lions, beaten 1-0 in January’s final, were later awarded a 3-0 victory after Senegalese players walked off in protest. CAF stripped Senegal of the title, sparking outrage and legal action.
Morocco’s players and fans say the matter is closed. “We’re focused on what’s to come,” said goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. Supporters celebrated at Friday’s 1-1 friendly against Ecuador, calling the decision “justice served.”
New coach Mohamed Ouahbi is already looking ahead to the World Cup, where Morocco face Brazil on June 13. “We are a top-level team … you only have strengths,” he said.
Senegal continues to parade the trophy, but Morocco is preparing for the summer, determined to win on the pitch.
