The Uganda Volleyball Federation has ruled on eligibility petitions in the National Volleyball League playoffs, awarding semifinal victories to Elyon VC and Nkumba VC and confirming both sides as finalists.
In a letter dated March 28, the federation said it received two petitions from Elyon VC challenging Nemostars VC for fielding ineligible players, identified as Salva Marial and Frederick Mujinya.
A three-member committee reviewed the case and found both players to be in breach of the UVF constitution and 2022 bylaws.
Following the findings, the federation awarded Elyon a 3-0 victory over Nemostars, overturning the on-court result and sending Elyon through to the Serie A final.
A separate ruling addressed a petition by Serie B side Nkumba VC against St Charles Lwanga Ntinda VC.
The committee found Barnabus Tugume and St Charles Lwanga Ntinda VC in breach of the same regulations, leading to another 3-0 decision in Nkumba’s favour and progression to the final.
Elyon will now meet Sport-S in the Serie A final whole Nkumba will play the Serie B final.
UVF president Sadik Zaid Nasiwu, in both communications, urged clubs to adhere to the constitution and regulations governing the sport.
