Former New York Marathon champion Albert Korir has been suspended for five years after admitting to using CERA, a blood‑boosting drug.
The 32‑year‑old Kenyan tested positive in three out‑of‑competition checks last October, leading to the annulment of all results since then, including his third‑place finish in New York.
Korir, winner of the 2021 race, had also finished runner‑up in 2019 and 2023. His ban runs until January 2031, shortened by a year after his admission.
The Athletics Integrity Unit said the tests showed “clear evidence” of repeated doping.
