Kemis Ibrahim Eyes Redemption in UBCL Return After Season Finale Defeat

Kemis Ibrahim (L) connects with a punch against Adriko Jimmy during the intense Boxing Champions League Season 3 Finals

Khemis Ibrahim moved a step closer to securing a place at the upcoming Commonwealth Games after defeating Nasasira Shafik in a key elimination bout as the Uganda Boxing Federation continues its selection process.

The bout, held at TLC Kamwokya, saw Khemis dominate across all three rounds, showing sharper technique and better control to outclass Nasasira.

The result carried added weight, coming months after a controversial loss to the same opponent at the Boxing Champions League Grand Finale, a decision that sparked unrest at Lugogo Arena.

Under the federation’s selection format, each boxer in the elimination stage is scheduled to fight three bouts, with at least two wins required to book a ticket to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Khemis’ victory puts him firmly on course as the race for the final six slots intensifies.

Elsewhere, the scheduled contest between Farahat Maninora and Batte Nuhu did not take place, with Farahat currently competing in Russia.

The eliminations were staged as part of the Intermediate Boxing Championships Grand Finale, where Lukangfa Boxing Club finished as overall winners.
