Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarterfinal Draw Set for Thursday

The Stanbic Uganda Cup has reached the quarterfinal stage, and the draw last Thursday promises an exciting mix of established giants and one brave underdog.

Among the eight teams left, seven are Uganda Premier League sides, with only Regional League hopeful Happy Boys FC Kagaba standing out as the lone intruder.

It’s a first-quarterfinal appearance for Happy Boys, while the rest of the field boasts a combined 37 Uganda Cup trophies.

KCCA FC and Express FC lead the way with ten titles each, followed closely by SC Villa with nine.

Vipers SC and URA FC have each lifted the cup four times, while Kitara FC claimed their maiden top-flight trophy in 2024 by defeating NEC in the final.

This year, only NEC and Happy Boys have yet to taste Uganda Cup glory, although NEC made a memorable run to the final in their debut top-flight season.

The history of these trophies adds extra spice to the upcoming matches.

KCCA last lifted the cup in 2018, Express in 2007, Villa in 2015, and URA in 2011, making Vipers the most recent winner.

The quarterfinal fixtures, scheduled between April 1st and 6th, are set for compelling clashes.

KCCA travel to Nakivubo to face URA, Kitara host Express in Butema, NEC entertain Vipers at Lugogo, and Villa visit Happy Boys in Kasanda.

With so much history and big names in the mix, plus one brave underdog, the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals promise exciting matches and plenty of action for fans.
