Ekiyanja Football Club etched their name into alumni football history after clinching the Season Championship of the sixth edition of the STACON League, in a pulsating grand finale hosted at Standard College Ntungamo.
In a match that gripped fans from start to finish, Ekiyanja FC locked horns with Embengo FC in a tightly contested final.
The two sides battled to a stalemate, with neither able to break the deadlock in normal time, forcing the game into penalties. Under immense pressure, Ekiyanja held their nerve to edge Embengo 8–7 in the shootout, lifting the coveted trophy amid jubilant celebrations.
The grand finale featured nine teams, but Ekiyanja’s resilience and composure set them apart, marking them as worthy champions of the alumni league. Adding to the excitement, Enguliko FC – defending champions of the fifth edition – secured the Stacon Cup, ensuring the tournament delivered drama and glory in equal measure.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Steven Tashobya alongside the director of Standard College Ntungamo, who pledged continued support for the growth of the STACON League and wider alumni sports initiatives. Both emphasized the vital role of sports in strengthening community ties and fostering camaraderie among alumni.
Widely praised as one of the most organized alumni competitions to date, the sixth edition of the STACON League has set a high benchmark for future tournaments.
Organizers confirmed that the seventh edition will return in August, promising an expanded calendar that will include netball, volleyball, and basketball alongside football.
