Young sensation Andrea Noll Ogwal once again proved decisive for Blacks Power FC, netting the only goal in a tense 1–0 victory over Kataka FC at the Ebenezer University Playground on Wednesday evening.
After a cagey first half, the hosts returned with renewed energy, thrilling their home supporters with sharper play. The breakthrough arrived in the 58th minute when Nigerian midfielder Innocent Maduka threaded a precise pass to Ogwal, who calmly slotted into the far corner, leaving Kataka’s goalkeeper stranded.
The 19-year-old midfielder has now scored in three consecutive matches, cementing his reputation as Blacks Power’s rising star.
“Determination, hard work, and listening to the coaches and senior players drive me every day,” Ogwal said post-match. “The team needs me most at this stage, and I’ll give everything to keep us winning.”
Head coach Lukyamuzi Michael, popularly known as Skills, praised his side’s preparation and discipline.
“We knew Kataka’s strengths and planned accordingly. We’ll maintain the same approach to boost our chances of promotion to the Premier League,” he noted.
Kataka’s coach Godfrey Toldo Awachango admitted his side failed to capitalize on their chances. “We’ll use this experience to re-strategize for the next fixture,” he said.
The win keeps Blacks Power at the summit of the Fufa Big League with 39 points from 21 matches, level with Kigezi Homeboys FC, who also secured a 1–0 win against Solitilo Bright Stars. Kataka, meanwhile, slipped from fourth to fifth with 34 points from 22 outings.
Looking ahead, Blacks Power face a stern test away to Ntugasaze FC on Sunday, April 5, while Kataka will aim to bounce back at home against CATDA FC the same day.
