Uganda U17 Women’s National Team players Onyango Jennifer and Birungi Zainabu say the squad is making steady progress as preparations continue for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe.
The Teen Cranes began training on March 30 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru under head coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes, with sessions focused on improving team cohesion, assessing player readiness and sharpening tactical awareness ahead of the two-legged tie.
Onyango pointed to visible improvement across the squad since camp opened, highlighting the intensity of the sessions and the players’ collective focus.
“The sessions have been really good. We are improving in all aspects. We are working hard to make the nation happy,” she said.
Birungi also stressed the tactical progress made early in camp, particularly in defensive structure and teamwork.
“We have learnt how to retrieve the ball from the opponent, stay compact while defending and also work as a team,” she noted.
Uganda will face Zimbabwe on April 11 and April 18, with the winner on aggregate advancing to the next round of the qualifiers.
