England boss Thomas Tuchel says Phil Foden is not guaranteed a place in his World Cup squad after struggling in a false nine role during Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Japan.
The 25-year-old Manchester City midfielder was the only player to start both of England’s final camp matches but failed to impress, with Tuchel admitting: “It’s not a guarantee that he will come.”
Foden has started just four of City’s last 15 games and hasn’t scored since December.
Tuchel must name his 24-man squad by 30 May, ahead of England’s opener against Croatia on 17 June in Arlington, Texas.
