YMCA have booked their place in the semifinals of the University Football League after edging out Kumi University 1–0 in the quarterfinal return leg, sealing a 2–1 aggregate victory.
The decisive moment came early, in the 8th minute, when Kiseka John calmly converted a penalty, giving YMCA the lead and ultimately the ticket to the last four. The first leg had ended 1–1, leaving everything to play for in the return fixture.
YMCA now join Kampala University, Muteesa I Royal University, and St. Lawrence University in the semifinals. The draw to determine semifinal pairings will be conducted tomorrow, Friday, at Katikati Restaurant at 9:00 a.m.
This marks a historic achievement for YMCA, and Muteesa I Royal, who are all reaching the semifinals for the first time. Of the four, only Kampala University boast previous triumphs, having lifted the trophy twice.
With fresh contenders eager to make history and a seasoned champion still in the mix, the semifinals promise to deliver high drama and unforgettable football moments.
