Royal Giants School in Mityana is among the beneficiaries of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, using prize money from the competition to acquire a school bus aimed at improving student transport and access to education.
CAF confirmed that funds from the schools championship are ring-fenced for development projects, with Royal Giants opting to invest in transport infrastructure as part of efforts to enhance learning conditions and support student participation in school activities, including football.
The initiative is part of CAF’s wider youth development strategy, where schools across the continent receive financial rewards based on performance in the competition. Winners of the continental finals take home USD 300,000, with runners-up earning USD 200,000 and third-place finishers USD 150,000. Zonal phase teams also receive funding, with USD 100,000 awarded to winners.
Since its launch in 2022, the programme has supported improvements in classrooms, sports facilities and learning resources across several countries, with CAF stating that the approach is designed to create long-term benefits in both education and football development.
The latest edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship continental finals is scheduled to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe from April 6 to 10, 2026.
