The Pearl Queens have reignited their playoff ambitions in the 2026 Uganda National Basketball League Women’s season after a spirited mid-season recovery.
Head coach Angela Namirimu expressed confidence in her side’s ability to secure a postseason berth, despite a rocky start that saw them slump to 11th place following a heavy 74-44 defeat to JKL Lady Dolphins and a narrow 65-58 loss to KCCA Leopards. The early struggles underscored the challenges of molding a newly assembled squad.
Resilience, however, has defined their turnaround. The Queens edged Magic Stormers 43-41 in a tense contest before delivering a commanding 70-39 victory over Angels Basketball Club.
“As Pearl Queens, we had a tough start, but the players have shown great character to bounce back. Our focus now is consistency, finishing the first round strong, and making it to the playoff,” Namirimu said.
The resurgence has lifted the team to fifth place with a balanced 5-5 record, firmly positioning them back in contention. Namirimu insists consistency will be the decisive factor in the remaining fixtures.
The Queens conclude their first-round campaign against Nabisunsa on Sunday, April 12 — a clash that could further solidify their playoff push.
