Mamelodi Sundowns head into their seventh CAF Champions League semifinal, and fourth in a row, with a mixed record at this stage.
They’ve won three and lost three of their previous six ties, often stumbling against North African opposition.
Highlights include edging Petro Atletico on penalties in 2001, beating ZESCO United in 2016 en route to their only title, and last season’s dramatic away-goals win over Al Ahly.
But defeats to Wydad Casablanca (twice) and Esperance in 2024 still linger.
On Sunday, they face Esperance again in Tunis, hoping to turn lessons from past heartbreak into a second successive final appearance.
