UPDF snapped their 12-match winless streak with a commanding 3-1 triumph over Mbarara City at Bombo Military Grounds on Thursday, securing their first league victory since December.
Emmanuel Ocen opened the scoring in the 30th minute, but Mbarara’s Muhammad Kanyike quickly equalized five minutes later to send the sides level into halftime. After the break, Andrew Samson Kigozi took charge, striking twice to seal a vital win for the army side.
The result lifts UPDF to 13th place on 17 points from 22 matches, edging them out of the relegation zone for the first time this season. Mbarara City, the Ankole Lions, slip to 14th, one point adrift.
With momentum finally shifting in their favor, UPDF will hope this breakthrough marks a turning point in their fight for survival.
