Calvary FC’s long wait is finally over. The Midigo-based side secured their first-ever victory in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2025/26 season on Saturday, April 11, defeating fellow newcomers Buhimba United Saints 2–0 at Midigo Primary School playground.
Lawrence Olaboro delivered the breakthrough, scoring twice to lift Calvary from a winless run that had stretched across 21 matches. Entering Matchday 22 bottom of the table with just five points, the pressure was immense. Olaboro rose to the occasion, ensuring the Horizon Stars finally tasted top-flight success.
The result not only marks a historic milestone for Yumbe’s first UPL club but also injects fresh hope into their survival fight. Calvary remain 16th with eight points, but the gap to Buhimba United Saints (15 points) and Mbarara City (16 points) has narrowed.
For Buhimba United Saints, the defeat extends a difficult stretch in their debut season. With eight games left, Calvary will look to build on this momentum—the wait has been long, but the battle for survival is far from over.
