The Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) will use the fifth round of the National Motocross Championship, set for this Sunday in Garuga, as a key selection event for the national team that will represent Uganda at the 2026 FIM Africa Motocross of Nations.
The continental championship will be staged in Namibia from August 28 to 30, with Uganda determined to reclaim the African crown it last won in 2012.
Sunday’s Garuga showdown is expected to draw the country’s top motocross riders, all vying for places on the national team. FMU officials will closely assess performances across categories before naming the squad that will carry Uganda’s hopes at the prestigious continental event.
Beyond team selection, the Garuga round will also serve as vital preparation for Uganda’s junior riders ahead of the 2026 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship.
The global junior competition is scheduled for July 4 and 5 in the Czech Republic, giving young riders a final chance to test their readiness against local rivals before facing the world’s best.
With both continental and global challenges looming, Sunday’s races promise high-intensity action as riders battle to impress selectors and sharpen their form for the international stage.
