Japan captain Wataru Endo remains doubtful for Sunday’s World Cup opener against the Netherlands, with coach Hajime Moriyasu admitting he is “praying” for the Liverpool midfielder’s recovery.
Endo, 33, has yet to complete full training after a foot injury but joined light drills in Nashville. Medical reports suggest he could still feature, though Moriyasu warned a replacement may be considered if he cannot play.
Japan, in Group F with the Netherlands, Sweden and Tunisia, already lost Kaoru Mitoma and Takumi Minamino to injury. Endo’s absence would be another major blow as the team prepares for Dallas.
