Defending champion of the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase at the Olympics, Peruth Chemutai has reached the final at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris, France.
The Ugandan Long-distance runner advanced by finishing first in the women’s 3000m Steeplechase Round One in the first Heat on Sunday morning.
She recorded a time of 9:10:51 in a Round where the first five athletes from each Heat advanced to the final.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics Gold medalist will be hoping to defend her medal when she takes to the field on Tuesday.
Should Chemutai emerge victorious, she will have added a second golden accolade to her gallery.
Chemutai’s cabinet already has a Bronze medal from the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
The Bukwo District-born athlete also has Silver medals from the 2023 All-Africa Games in Accra and the 2018 World U20 Championships in Tampere.
