The Uganda Cranes Select Team and BUL FC have emerged victorious in their respective second leg quarter-final clashes of the FUFA Super 8, securing their places in the semi-finals.
The Select Team clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa, thanks to substitute Samuel Kato’s decisive goal in the 53rd minute.
This win, combined with their 2-1 comeback in the first leg on August 3, resulted in a 3-1 aggregate score, and propelled them into the semi-finals.
The Uganda Cranes Select Team will now face Vipers on Saturday, August 10th.
The venoms advanced to the semi-finals yesterday on away goals rule after their 1-1 away draw with NEC in the return leg of the fixture.
Villa, on the other hand, will take on NEC in one the third placement games over the weekend.
Before the Select Team-Villa clash, defending champions BUL comfortably defeated Maroons 3-0 courtesy of a brace from Isaac Wagoina, a recent signing from Express, who scored in the 30th and 53rd minutes, and Dickson Mataama’s 33rd minute goal.
BUL had earlier played out to a 1-1 draw with Maroons in the first leg of the tie, but the dominant win in the second leg ensured a 4-1 aggregate victory.
They will now face Kitara, who defeated KCCA 4-3 on aggregate, in the semi-finals on Sunday, August 11th, at 8 pm.
KCCA will face Maroons in a third placement clash at Lugogo.
