Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Charles Lukwago has embarked on a new chapter in his football career after signing a two-year contract with Venda Football Club, a South African second-tier outfit.
The talented shot-stopper joins the Venda-based side following a stint with Ethiopian club, Hawasa City.
Lukwago boasts a rich domestic career, having previously donned the jerseys of Lweza, Proline, SC Victoria University, and KCCA.
A mainstay in the Uganda Cranes setup, Lukwago has earned 24 caps since his debut in 2019, showcasing his abilities on the international stage.
Venda FC, who finished 12th in the league last season, are keen on securing promotion to the top flight and will be hoping Lukwago’s experience can bolster their goalkeeping department.
The club joins a growing list of South African teams with Ugandan goalkeeping talent, with the likes of Dennis Onyango, Ismail Watenga, and Jamal Salim Magoola already plying their trade in the country.
