The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among has reiterated her commitment to developing Uganda’s sporting talent through investment in sports infrastructure.
Speaking on Mama Bukedea Radio on Thursday evening ahead of the upcoming FEASSA games, the Speaker emphasized the country’s untapped potential in sports and said this was her motivation to invest in sports.
Hon. Anita Among said Uganda boasts a wealth of sporting talent that is currently underutilized due to a lack of adequate facilities.
She added that to address this, she has invested in the construction of a sports complex at Bukedea Comprehensive School which she owns aimed at providing young Ugandans with the necessary platform to hone their skills and compete at the highest level.
Hob. Anita Among also revealed that her vision is to see more Ugandan athletes representing the country at the Olympic Games and other international sporting events.
The FEASSA games, which kick off today with the arrival of teams, are expected to provide a platform for young Ugandan athletes to showcase their abilities and inspire the next generation of sports stars.
Bukedea Comprehensive School has a semi-Olympic size swimming pool, an indoor multi-purpose sports complex and a 10,000 seater outdoor stadium.
