Amongst the items that were delivered on Thursday morning were hospital beds, mattresses, medical slippers, medical and surgical gowns among others.
The mental health unit was the main focus with betPawa directly involved because of the disorders that could be caused by gambling.
“We understand that mental health is a global issue and after a countrywide survey, we decided to start with Jinja Regional Referral Hospital,” the Country Marketing Officer, Ivy Nyonyozi Igunduura told the media.
“Mental health is caused by different factors including gambling addiction and as betPawa we have continuously sensitized the public on the dangers in the long run.”
“Coming out with such initiatives speaks volumes about the fact that we know and acknowledge people with mental illness need our support in one way or another.”
“The experience here has given us a glimpse into what is happening elsewhere and we shall ensure that these CSR donations reach different referral points,” she noted.
According to Doctor Joseph Oruth, mental health cases have decreased by a significant 4.9%.
“Between 2023 and mid 2024 we received huge numbers of mental disabilities resulting from betting, love affair, drug use but currently that number has dropped.”
“We want to thank betPawa for their efforts to create awareness and render a helping hand with such equipments and also call upon other stakeholders to come on board.”
