Kawempe Muslim Ladies are the fourth Ugandan team to play in the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Lady Doves, She Corporate, and Kampala Queens are the other three Uganda Women clubs to ever grace this stage.
On Friday, Kawempe booked their slot in the semifinals meaning that only Kampala Queens have failed to go beyond the group stages.
Doves set the pace running in 2021 when they finished third after defeating Simba Queens in the third-place playoff final in Kenya.
Corporate followed suit in 2022 and went a step closer to qualification but fell short courtesy of defeat to Simba in the final in Tanzania.
A year later, Kampala Queens hosted the tournament but didn’t go past the group stages in 2023.
Qualification to the group stages of the coveted tournament remains a mystery for Uganda and all hopes lie in Kawempe to try and break the jinx.
They will face hosts CBE Women in a tricky semifinal on Monday, August 26.
As Kawempe finished second in Group B with six points, CBE gathered maximum points on top of Group A.
