The long-standing contractual dispute involving SC Villa, NEC, Busoga United, and talented midfielder Emmanuel Ajo has finally been resolved.
After weeks of uncertainty, it has been officially announced that Ajo will join NEC for the upcoming 2024/2025 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
The resolution of the dispute hinges on the validity of Ajo’s contract with SC Villa. While Ajo signed with SC Villa in June 2024, the club’s contract was deemed non-binding due to an attached mutual termination letter from Busoga United.
The letter, signed by Derrick Lule, the former Busoga United Club CEO, was declared invalid as Lule was no longer in office at the time of the signature.
As part of the settlement, Ajo will be required to refund SC Villa eight million Ugandan shillings and pay an additional seven million shillings as a compensation fee.
Despite the contractual complications, Ajo’s talent and performance have been undeniable. He was awarded the Uganda Premier League Monthly Award for both April and May, showcasing his exceptional abilities on the field.
With Ajo now officially joining NEC, the club has secured a promising addition to their squad. His presence will undoubtedly bolster their midfield and contribute to their aspirations for success in the upcoming season.
