Reigning champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende will square off against Kawanda Secondary School in a thrilling netball final of the 2024 FEASSA Games today at 10 AM.
The road to the final saw both schools emerging victorious in their respective semifinals played yesterday at the Bukedea Primary School grounds.
Kawanda SS edged out St. Noa Girls School Zzana with a slender 37-36 victory, a win that marks a historic moment for the school as they advance to their maiden East Africa Schools Championship final.
The match was closely contested, with both teams exchanging leads, but Kawanda’s defensive fortitude and clinical finishing in the dying moments secured their place in the final.
On the other hand, St. Mary’s Kitende, the perennial powerhouses of school netball, displayed their dominance in a commanding 51-32 win over Buddo SS.
Kitende have been crowned champions in 18 of the 20 previous editions of the competition in the netball category and have so far lived up to their reputation at this year’s Games, having registered comfortable victories en route to the final.
Today’s final promises to be a spectacle of skill, strategy, and sheer willpower. St. Mary’s Kitende enter as clear favorites, boasting an unparalleled record in the competition.
Kawanda SS, however, will be eager to dethrone the champions and etch their name in the annals of East African school sports history.
