Congo Brazzaville who are pooled in the same group with Uganda Cranes kick-started their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign on a good note.
The Red Devils defeated South Sudan 1-0 at Stade Alphonse Massemba-Debat in Group K on Thursday evening.
Masanga Matondo scored the all important goal off Vieljeux Mboungou’s assist in the 12th minute.
The three points took interim head coach Isaac Ngata’s charges top of Group K ahead of the game between South Africa and Uganda on Friday.
Congo will now embark on the journey to Kampala to start preparing for their next game against the Uganda Cranes.
After the game against South Africa on Friday, the Cranes will also travel back home on Saturday morning.
Uganda will host Congo Brazzaville at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Monday, September 9 which will be the second game for each team.
On the other hand, South Sudan will welcome South Africa in the other game of Group K at Juba Stadium on the same day.
