Table Tennis: Ssebatindira, Anyango Showcase International Prowess

It was a no-brainer that Sir Joseph Ssebatindira and Patience Anyango topped the rankings at the just concluded U11 Hope training camp.

Ssebatindira and Anyango finished top in the boys and girls category, with 24 and 16 points, respectively at a session held at Railway Primary School in Nsambya.

The duo has witnessed international exposure and whereas Ssebatindira is a world champion in his category from the World Table Tennis Youth Championships in Poland and Norway, Anyango is an African champion for her success in Botswana.

In the aftermath of the event, coach Alvin Katumba heaped praise on Ssebatindira noting the importance of having such a talent.

“We are all proud of Ssebatindira, who I believe has gained exposure, and we are looking forward to seeing him play more on the international stage,” the Nakasero manager said.

“Having him at such activities is of great importance because many of his fellow young players already look up to him.”

“We are trying our best to produce more players like Ssebatindira and Anyango is another one we are going to join hands and take to greater heights,” he added.

Besides Ssebatindira and Anyango’s Nakasero, three other teams participated in the training camp, including; Slump Ping Pong, TT Kids Iganga, and TT Kids Katwe.

Slum Ping Pong’s Allan Wetogo and Nakasero’s Noah Balywewunya were ranked second and third with 22 and 21 points, respectively in the boys’ category.

In the girls’ category, TT Kids Iganga’s pair of Judith Kirabira and Shanitah Kirabo were second and third, with 14 and 13 points, apiece.
