Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was left overwhelmed by the love and affection shown to him by Ugandans on Tuesday.
The shine was on the 28-year-old as Cameroon drew 0-0 with Zimbabwe in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
United fans stormed Namboole in large numbers and it was an electric atmosphere throughout the 90 minutes with the supporters chanting the goal minder’s name.
The former Inter Milan and Ajax custodian has returned to Manchester ahead of the game against Southampton on Saturday but he’s looking forward to his return to the Pearl of Africa.
“Life is this, I like this. Thank you for the warm welcome,” Onana posted on his Instagram story on Wednesday.
I would like to spend more time with all of you. See you next month in Uganda,” the shot-stopper added.
He’ll return to Uganda in October for Cameroon’s third qualification game against Kenya.
Just like Zimbabwe, the Harambee Stars also don’t have a readily available stadium and will continue hosting from Namboole at least until next year.
